Last Crafting Challenge Plush for 2015!

Hello all!
Looks like Thanksgiving is over here in the states and the officially holiday shopping season has begun! I am feeling the effects already, both trying to juggle making gifts for friends and family and filling orders at my Etsy shop. If you’re also shopping around for others, you might be interested to know I have a sale going on in my shop 😀 A bunch of ready-to-ship hats, hoodies, and plushies have been marked down 20%, and you can also use coupon code HOLIDAY2015 to get an additional $10 off orders of $100 or more! This sale lasts until 12/18 so you have a few weeks left to check out what you might want!
Holiday2015

But onto the real reason why we’re all here! It’s the last month of the 2015 Monthly Crafting Challenge! As usual, it’s a bittersweet ending for me. This year’s collection of punny animal plushies were so fun to do – I wish I could have made a dozen more! But I’m also looking forward to next year’s collection 😀 Holiday craziness has made it hard, but I am working away to get January’s project up and ready to go.
So here it is! The last punny animal plush pattern:
201512

A Yeti Four!
I’m sure most of you have seen little petit four cakes, the adorable little square confections that are decorated with frosting flowers and swirls and such. I’ve always thought those were so adorable and irresistible as a kid, especially when those Swiss Colony catalogs would start rolling in during the holidays. The fact that it rhymes with a monster known for living in the snowy mountains seemed just too perfect!
Sewing up the body of the yeti is pretty basic if you’re used to cubes. But all the extra details, especially the arms, might be a little tricky. I think beginners can tackle this one if you take it one step at a time and try not to rush yourself.

New Crafting Challenge pattern for November!

Hello all!
I hope everyone had an amazing Halloween yesterday! I spent a lot of it sewing in front of the TV, watching silly scary movies and eating mouthfuls of York Peppermint Patties 😀 It’s so nice to move into another month and get one step closer to winter – or the closest thing we have to winter down here in Florida. I wasn’t very active here on the blog during October because of all the Halloween orders I was filling. It was a ton of fun getting to make others’ costumes, but hopefully this month I can move into making some more personal projects!

To kick off November I have a new plush pattern you can earn!
201511
A Chocolate Gato!

This pun is multilingual again ^-^ and I love it! It’s based of the Spanish word for cat: gato, and the French word for cake: gâteau – which sound very similar. So together it’s a petit little cake with an adorable kitty head popping out the top. Little icing roses in brown and red finish it off.
Sewing up the cake and the kitty head are pretty simple, but putting it all together takes a lot of hand sewing, so just be prepared for that ^-^ It might be a pain to position everything just right, so basting the pieces in place first before going back and doing the real seams can be a big help.

New Crafting Challenge Pattern For October!

Hi everyone!

I can’t believe it’s October already! So many fun holidays to look forward to! It likely went so fast for me because my Etsy store exploded with Halloween orders! So I’ve been super swamped and not been able to update as much here. I’m still working on new projects for the site in every free minute I have though!

I’m so excited to kick off this holiday season with a new plush pattern you can earn!
201510
A Platypumpkin!

This of course is a silly portmanteau of platypus and pumpkin – so together we have a chubby little pumpkin with platypus features 😀 This one’s a lot tougher to put together than the others, especially to get all the little pieces on like feet, bill, leaf, and stem. Plus all the ridges of the pumpkin take a bit of extra time too. So it’s fun to see it all come together, but be forewarned it’s not altogether beginner friendly.

New Monthly Crafting Challenge Pattern for September!

Hi everybody!

August has been super busy for me! 😀 I’ve been gearing up for my favorite holiday, Halloween ^w^ so you should see some updates in my Etsy store now and in the coming weeks. I’m also working on some projects for myself, friends, and family, so I’ll be sharing those with you in the future too! Also super exciting – I’ve surpassed 2,000 subscribers on this blog! So thank you to all my wonderful fans out there ;0; I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you! Stay tuned next week — I’ll be holding a giveaway to celebrate this new milestone! ♥

But I’m sure your minds are all on more important matters, that’s right, plushies ¬w¬ For the month of September here’s the new pattern you can earn!
201509
A Panda Loaf!

This little project is simple but sweet 😀 The pun is based off the fact that the ‘pan’ in panda means bread in lots of different languages like Spanish, Japanese, and more loosely Italian and French. I was inspired a lot by the Sanrio character, Pankunchi :3 A little panda that hates bamboo but loves eating bread. So together we have a big plush breadloaf with panda features!
Assembling the loaf is pretty simple ^-^ There are some curved seams to worry about in sewing up the front and back, but overall it’s a basic shape 😀

New Crafting Challenge Pattern for August!

Hi everyone!

Well, July is finally over and in that time I reached another milestone! I made it to 150,000 pageviews on my deviantArt and I’m holding a plush giveaway to celebrate 😀 Stop on over to the dA page to check it out if you haven’t already 😀 My store also got a small update with just a few plushies last month. I’m hoping this month will allow me to introduce even more!

But anyway, down to plushie business! We have a new pattern that you can earn for the month of August and it’s:
201508
A Neapolitanuki!

I think this guy might actually be my favorite out of the bunch! I mean look at him ^0^ he’s so fat and huggable! This pun is a mix of Neapolitan (the ice cream flavor that’s a collection of chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla), and Tanuki, the Japanese raccoon-dog that shows up in lots of fun folklore. So combined we have a deliciously striped little raccoon! I like to think of his magic leaf as a mint leaf to finish off the dessert :3
201508b
Assembling this guy is not too bad ^-^ If you’ve made plushies before the body is nothing surprising. The tail might be a little tricky, what with all those curvy stripes. I made sure to put lots of markings on the pattern so you can match up your pieces easily.

New Crafting Challenge Plush Pattern for July!

Hello all!

June is over and done with, and although it went quickly for me it’s still been fun 😀 I’ve been preparing a load of new products to reveal in the coming weeks and we’ll likely be having another giveaway! I’m nearly at 150,000 pageviews on deviantArt and I can’t wait to celebrate with some free stuff!

And speaking of free stuff, I have a new plush pattern you can earn this month!
201507
It’s a Dragon Fruit!

I was so excited to get to this month because of this little cutie 😀 It’s probably one of my favorites out of the collection. The pun of course is based on the Asian fruit that’s beautifully colored pink and green with a white speckled flesh. So together we have a tiny dragon with green wings, spikes, and white horns.

201507b

Sewing this guy up is a little more complicated, since there are a lot of details. Between all the spikes, horns, and wings that need to be placed correctly, there’s also the head, which can get misaligned. Not to mention all the French knots that make up the speckles on the horns, but those can be replaced with fabric paint if you like. All in all, basting is your friend here ^-^

New Crafting Challenge Pattern for June!

Hello everyone!

June is upon us! I can hardly believe it 😀 Prepping for Metrocon really made the time fly, but I’m super excited for when it arrives. Just so you all know, Metrocon is in Tampa, FL from June 11th-14th (Thursday-Sunday) this year. I’ll be in the Vendors’ Area, booth E11. It’s near the middle, but just a smidge back and to the left. There I’ll have loads of plushies, aviator caps, fleece hats, and hoodies, including some new designs I’ve been working on for the past few months. I hope if you’re in the area you’ll be able to stop by!

Anyhow, on to more pressing, plush-related business! For the month of June there’s a new punny food animal sewing pattern to earn:
201506
A Beary Ice Cream Cone!

This of course is kind of a classic pun: beary = berry. I thought a cute little bear face on top of a waffle cone would be too cute to pass up so I combined the two. It’s that much more fun when you consider all the color combinations available – raspbeary, strawbeary, bluebeary, blackbeary, etc. 😀
201506b
Overall this one is pretty simple and relatively quick too. The troublesome parts are the ears and the scallop edging, which requires a bit of maneuvering in case you’re not used to it.
