Hi everyone!
I found some time to work on some pattern hacks as we get into summer! If you’re not familiar with hacks, pattern hacks are additional templates and alterations needed to change up an existing pattern. I love using them to make more complex versions of the characters I have as free patterns.
This group of hacks are ones that I wanted to do when the patterns were first released, but couldn’t fit in at the time. It felt so great to go back and expand on these older patterns! I hope you like the results!
The oldest of the bunch is a Toothless hack for my Wyvern & Dragon pattern. A night fury was very much on my mind when I first designed that pattern back in 2020! And I’m so glad that now it can showcase a full standing Toothless in all his glory! The hack uses the dragon base from the main pattern and adds new eyes, horns, back spikes, tail fins, and big majestic wired wings!
Next on the list is one that’s slightly more recent, a Ponyta plush using my Farm Mammals pattern! I did a simper free version of Ponyta last November and I regretted that I didn’t have time to do a pattern hack or even the Galar version. I had such a hard time deciding which of my patterns to use as a base, but the pony from my Farm Mammals pattern has that classic pony body that I thought was a good start. On that body the hack adds on a new mane, tail, and leg details for both versions of Ponyta.
And for the epic conclusion we have Haku! As you know he was a free pattern just last month and I so wanted to make a more complex hack version at that time. He is practically tailor made to go along with my Long Neck Cuddle plush from 2024. Back then I did a Falkor pattern hack, but now Haku gets his turn. You start with the Eastern dragon base and give him clawed arms and feet, a contrast nose bridge, and an accent mane on his head.
