Free Pattern Friday! Phoenix Plush

Not far behind last month’s kitsune was an epic phoenix!
Once again we’re tackling a creature that I first created about 8 years ago. It was a lot of fun to revisit this one and see how I could put a new spin on it.
The phoenix is of course the legendary bird that is reborn in flames. So for this plush version I gave it as many flame details as I could. The overall shape has a chubby, baby-like look, which is even more enhanced by the accent fluffy neck piece. It’s got two flame-shaped wings as well as a long flame-shaped tail. And to finish it off it has a tiny pointed beak and a small feather that sticks out from the top of its head.
The wings and tail are attached in the seam which lessens the amount of hand sewing. There are a lot of darts, but aside from that a lot of the techniques used are pretty basic. With all that in mind I rated it a 4/10 in difficulty.
As always, the pattern comes with applique templates to make the face and other details. These will work if you’re sewing the details by regular machine or by hand. If you have an embroidery machine, you’ll find the embroidery files available for download here or with the buttons below. I hope you all like it!
