I’ve got a new plush pattern I’ve added to my shop!
This creepy classic plague doctor is a plush I wanted to do since last year <3 It looks like others had it in mind too, including an awesome Plague Birb from CreepyKawaii and this version from Squishable. The timing is certainly a little on-the-nose considering all the trouble we’re dealing with, but hopefully this cute version of a medieval doctor will put a fun spin on everyone’s Halloween.
Just like the classic doctor, this plush features a long bird-like face. It’s just like the mask that the medieval doctors used to stuff sweet smelling herbs and flowers in the hopes of avoiding illness by keeping bad smells away. It also has a double-breasted coat, capelet with a hood or collar, and a tall hat.
While designing these cuties, I had convinced myself that this doctor must be chubby for maximum silliness. So you’ll find included is a simple body that is round and tubby. But I also thought the doctor would look good as an expansion to my standard human doll pattern — so I included both! So if you have my Chibi Human or Merpeople pattern you’re all set, and if you don’t, you can make a chubby doctor instead! <3 You’ll find the instructions for the mask and clothes are similar for both, it’s just the sizes that differ a little.
The patterns come with applique templates for some simple face options and for the coat buttons. Embroidery is also included for a few more detailed mask designs.
To celebrate the launch, the new pattern will be 30% off from now through Halloween on the 31st! Since some might be staying home for the holiday, I thought I’d stretch the sale through the end of the month in case it helps some keep busy. And for extra Halloween fun, all my spooky patterns will be also be 30% off, and the rest of the shop will be 20% off! I hope you’ll give the new doctor a look! And if you snagged a copy of the new pattern, I hope you enjoy it!

I have been curious for a while, where do you purchase your fabric? You always have the most interesting fabric in your example dolls and I’d love to do more than standard single colors.
Thanks so much! I use Spoonflower to have custom fabric printed 🙂 I’ll typically draw up some motifs for my next design and have them all printed onto one sheet of fabric in preparation for the new pattern.
No wonder they’re so cool, you could probably sell those too!
I just got the pattern, it’s adorable! Thank you so much ^o^
I love the pattern and I’ve already purchased it. I’m curious though, will the Plague Doctor expansion also fit the Bat/Cat girl plush or is it only the ones listed in the pattern?
Thanks so much for your purchase! The expansion works best with the ones listed in the pattern. But if you wanted to combine it with the Bat/Cat girl doll, you could use the head from the Chubby Doctor on the body of the Bat/Cat Girl. It would probably help to make the neck hole smaller, but overall it would be the most straightforward solution 🙂
Your plushes are always the cutest! Have you thought about releasing a hollow knight plush pattern? The designs in that game are so darn cute!! It would fit your style so well!
Thanks so much! I haven’t had any requests for a Hollow Knight up until now, but if I should get more I’ll certainly see what I can do!
Just a quick question.. is there an embroidery file for the eye with the eye shine
That style of eye wasn’t originally part of the package, but it should have been 🙂 I guess you could say I got caught up in the more detailed eyes and didn’t think about the simple one.
But I’ve made one recently so I’m happy to share it with you here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/f4zfqxakhjl5qbo/AADsoEkSrK-pjPUT0S1ioTuea?dl=0
I hope that helps!
what is its difficulty
Can marine vinyl be used for the mask part?
I haven’t used it personally, so I can’t say for certain. But I know there will be some bulk where the 3 seams converge at the beak. And the doll version (not the chubby one) has a lot of overlapping seams around the face. So you’ll just want to sew slowly and carefully and use a needle for vinyl ♥
Thought you might like to see the results. Not sure I got enough stuffing in her beak, it’s hard to tell. But I love how it turned out.
Thank you so much for sharing!
i just recently i buy this pattern but i only have 1 question how do you applay the hand embroidery on the fabric? cus i dont hvae an embroidery machine and would also like to do it with my hand but idk how to applay it on the fabric so have any ideas or tips on how to put it on the fabric?
Thanks so much for your purchase! To apply the face, the instructions will show you how to use applique 😊 So you’ll be making the face with small pieces of accent fabric like felt or flannel. The steps can be found on page 10, but I also have a rough guide here: https://cholyknight.com/2017/03/30/infographic-fusible-web-applique/
And I have a much more in-depth guide here:
I hope that might help!
