Magical Pet Sale! And new Wyvern & Dragon Pattern!

Hello everyone! I hope you all are making it through the month okay! I know times have been tough so I’ve been working hard to keep creating patterns and content that will help keep our minds off the stress ❤

I have a new pattern in my shop, and as an extra bonus, I’m having a sale on everything else for the next week! I know there were some that missed my previous sale, so I thought having another would be the least I could do with the current times we’re in.
From now through next Wednesday, the 22nd, my whole shop will be 10% off! Also all magical creature patterns, like unicorns, dragons, and cryptids, will be 20% off ❤
The special feature, at 30% off, is my newest Wyvern & Dragon Pattern! I figure we all need some magical friends to keep us company right now ♥

I’ve received a lot of requests for a wyvern lately. If you’re not familiar with the distinction, wyverns are like dragons but with 2 legs instead of 4, and wings for arms instead. Sometimes the difference isn’t very noticeable, but if you take a closer look at your favorite dragon character, you might find that they’re actually a wyvern! A good example might be Stormfly from How to Train Your Dragon.

I thought a wyvern might fit in nicely with my other 4-legged standing patterns, like my Long Dragon, Big Cat Griffins, and Fawn & Unicorn. Just to cover all the bases, this one comes with two body options. So if your favorite character is in fact a classic dragon after all, you’re still covered with this pattern too. This dragon style I did has a wider, more snake-like head (perfect for doing Toothless ♥), it’s sized so you could use the head from the Long Dragon or Floppy Dragon as well.

There are applique templates for the facial features included in the original pattern, or you can buy the accompanying embroidery files if you have an embroidery machine. The separate embroidery files allow you to stitch out some fun designs for the horns as well as applique for one style of wing.

To celebrate its launch, the pattern will be at 30% off for the sale! And the embroidery will be 50% off! I hope you’ll give it a look! And if you snagged a copy, I hope you enjoy it!

New Crafting Challenge Plush Pattern for July!

Hello all!

June is over and done with, and although it went quickly for me it’s still been fun 😀 I’ve been preparing a load of new products to reveal in the coming weeks and we’ll likely be having another giveaway! I’m nearly at 150,000 pageviews on deviantArt and I can’t wait to celebrate with some free stuff!

And speaking of free stuff, I have a new plush pattern you can earn this month!
201507
It’s a Dragon Fruit!

I was so excited to get to this month because of this little cutie 😀 It’s probably one of my favorites out of the collection. The pun of course is based on the Asian fruit that’s beautifully colored pink and green with a white speckled flesh. So together we have a tiny dragon with green wings, spikes, and white horns.

201507b

Sewing this guy up is a little more complicated, since there are a lot of details. Between all the spikes, horns, and wings that need to be placed correctly, there’s also the head, which can get misaligned. Not to mention all the French knots that make up the speckles on the horns, but those can be replaced with fabric paint if you like. All in all, basting is your friend here ^-^

★ So how do you get this pattern? ★
If you’re NEW to this site, start off by signing up for email updates between now and July 31st (found in the submission box on the right sidebar above “My Books”). This will earn you the pattern for THIS MONTH ONLY.
If you have trouble signing up, you can check out more info at the main Monthly Crafting Challenge page, the FAQ, or by emailing me.
★ What if you’re not new to this site? ★
If you’re already signed up for email updates, that’s where the CHALLENGE comes in. You can also earn this pattern if you make one of the projects from this blog, my books, or my Etsy then email me or message the finished project to my Facebook.
★ Also, bonus! ★
For today only I’m offering both this pattern and the one from June when you sign up or send in project photos. After today though, the prize is just this guy 🙂 You’ll have to purchase the older pattern through my Etsy if you’re too late.

So don’t forget to check back next month for a new punny food animal plush pattern, and keep sending me photos of your amazing creations!

Aviator Caps for Sale! With Coupon!

My latest giveaway to celebrate 100k pageviews on DeviantArt went amazingly well last week! I reached over 2200 entries, which is 3x as many as my last largest giveaway for the BMO plush. I want to extend a huge thank you to everyone that entered; the outpouring of support and well-wishing was amazing and I can’t get over how sweet and supportive everyone was!

Over the course of the giveaway I actually reached another goal, 4k+ DeviantArt watchers, so the giveaway was bumped up to two winners instead of one 😀 The winners (BreezePleeze and KatWynn of DeviantArt) and I are now hammering out their custom hat details, but that means I can now offer the rest of the hats to you for purchase!

Aviator Cap Compilation

Above you’ll see all of the sample hats I’ve created to showcase the suedecloth fabric I have in stock. Check out my newly updated Etsy store for these ready-to-ship hats (which are cheaper and don’t require any creation time) and also listings for custom hats sorted by suede color. Because Etsy only allows two variations per listing, you’ll find there are only options to choose your ear and headflap combo and side motif. Though if you want to customize even more (like lining or paint colors), you’ll just need to contact me first to sort out the details. The turnaround time for the caps is listed as 2 weeks, which is a big overestimation, but that’s only as an insurance policy in case people buy out ALL the hats at once. Not likely, but I thought I should be safe.

As my way of saying thanks to all of you for participating in my giveaway and helping me get to 100k+ pageviews and 4k+ watchers, please use this coupon if you get yourself a hat!

100kSale

The coupon code is good for the entire store, but the suede I have in stock is limited, so if you had your eye on an aviator cap I encourage you to buy it soon! This coupon is good until the end of the month, so you have a few weeks to take action ^-^

That should finally wrap things up with the aviator cap giveaway ^-^ Thank again to all of you that gave your support or entered the giveaway. I hope you’ll check out the hat collection if you’re still interested and save some money in the meantime too!

Custom Steampunk Cap Giveaway!

SteampunkCapGiveaway

Hello everyone! As promised, I’m announcing the new giveaway to celebrate 100k pageviews on my DeviantArt page!

The winner of this giveaway will receive a custom steampunk aviator cap! This is a design I’ve been wanting to implement for a long time now – a suede cloth aviator cap with minky faux fur lining and a choice of hand-painted motifs on the side. The chosen winner will get to work with me and pick out the color, ears, headflap, motif, you name it!

And, when the giveaway is finished, I’ll be launching the rest of the hats on my Etsy store! You’ll get the same color selection with a few custom options. Be sure to check back here when the winner is announced as I’ll be giving out a coupon!

Since the giveaway is due to my 100k kiriban on DeviantArt, I’m actually hosting the giveaway there 🙂 So to get all the details and enter you’ll need to visit my DeviantArt page directly (and make an account if you don’t already have one). I just wanted all of my followers on here to get the heads up as well ^0^

Good luck to everyone who enters! ♥

Bat Hat Giveaway!

Thanks to all of you I now have over 1,000 followers on my website here! In honor of this, I’m holding another giveaway!

BatHat

BatHat2The prize for this giveaway is one of my original hat creations, this adorable and fluffy little bat x3 It features cute little ears, a professional satin stitched face, and two long wings that come down the sides. It’s made from polar fleece which is perfectly machine washable, but also air dries quickly if you want to avoid machine drying it and keep it looking new as long as possible. It’s pretty much a one-size-fits-all for adults, as it fits heads between 22”-25” in circumference because it stretches so nicely.

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!
For this giveaway, I thought I’d try something new. While the randomly chosen winner will get the bat hat, everyone else will also get a prize! I’ve been working hard all month making some more hats and hoodies (like the bat hat here) from the last of my fleece yardage and they’ll be done just in time for the holiday season (stay tuned for an update about that in about a week) 😀 Once the winner of the giveaway reaches me, everyone will be mailed a coupon code to my Etsy store so you’re free to buy a hat at a discount if you didn’t win! ^-^

The fun part is, the coupon code is a mystery that you choose >w< When you sign up for the giveaway below, you’ll be asked to pick what’s behind door number 1, 2, or 3, and depending on what you choose you might receive a coupon for a certain percentage off your total purchase, a certain dollar amount off, or maybe a free gift with purchase – that kind of thing!

Thank you all again for signing up for email updates and getting me to over 1,000 followers! And good luck to all of you that are entering 😀 I hope the winner loves their new hat!

Here are all the details you’ll need to know when entering:
• The giveaway will be active from Monday, November 18th and the winner will be chosen at 10pm EST on Monday, November 25th
• To enter, simply fill out the form found at the bottom of this post
• The winning entrant will be chosen at random from the list of completed forms
• The winning entrant will be contacted via email about their win (so keep an eye on your emails for messages from cholyknight@gmail.com!)
• The winner will have 48 hours to respond to their winning notification before another winner is chosen
• As a winner, you will be expected to divulge your address (or PO Box) to me so the prize can be shipped to you
• As a winner, your name or pseudonym (and website, if given) will be announced on this website as the winner of the prize, so every entrant knows who was the final winner
• By submitting this form, you agree that you’re totally fine with me emailing you a coupon to my store (just this one time, I’m not a spammer!)
• The prize will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail — domestic takes 2-3 business days while international takes 6-10
• International entrants are more than welcome to enter
• To all international entrants: note that you may be required to pick up your package at your local post office or pay customs fees. These rules differ for every country so unfortunately I can’t be held responsible for any extra charges you might be asked to pay.
• By entering in this contest, you agree to these rules 🙂

Edit! 11/25: The giveaway is now over, thank you everyone for entering!
The winner has been contacted as of 10pm tonight, and I’ll make a post about the winner and send out the coupons to everyone else as soon as the chosen person confirms their address 😀

Freebie Friday! The Battie Treat Bag

Prj047
Another Halloween treat for you all! This time it’s directed mostly at the kiddies ^-^ I had some scraps of black twill that I thought would work perfectly for a little treat bag. Lots of different animal options came to mind, but a cute little bat enamored me the most. Now your favorite vampire or witch will be completely set for Halloween!
The bag is just a simple bucket bag style, but the added wings, ears, and appliqué make it perfect for any little vampires or witches out there. Or you could leave off the handle and use it for handing out candy this year 😀

Freebie Friday! The Gothic Lolita Purse

Prj033
Even though I’ve already done a Gothic Lolita inspired bag earlier, I’ve got to say there are dozens more Lolita styles I’d like to try before saying I’ve touched on them all >w< so here’s another one! Rather than a large satchel like the previous project, this one is more of a dainty-style purse with almost a tube-like shape. And of course it has some nice lace detail and a Lolita style painted motifs.
The fabric is the absolute last from a skirt I made way back at the beginning of college XD So once again I’ve finally used up fabric that I had been carrying around for years; I couldn’t be happier :B!

Freebie Friday! The Raven Hobo Bag

Prj027
I don’t mean to confuse anyone, but today’s project has nothing to do with birds >w< Many companies give their items cute girl names, for some reason this bag made me think of a raven x3 so I added the dark wings to bring the idea home.

This burgundy denim is leftover from another bag I made some time back, while the contrast black vinyl I had used to make some belts for a costume. The two seemed to go well together in sort of a 90s goth kind of way, so I thought I’d go for it 😀 And I had an extra zipper lying around that matched perfectly. That and when I realized I hadn’t made a hobo bag in my huge collection of bag projects, it seemed like all the ideas came together!

Happy White Day! Bonus Pattern: The Egg Bag

Prj013
So for most I know March 14th doesn’t mean much of anything, and for a select few nerdy types like me it means Pi Day. That’s all well and good – I love both kids of Pi/e :3 But for me, March 14th will always be White Day. In Japan and some other Asian countries Valentine’s Day is celebrated where girls give chocolates (either hand-made or store-bought – obviously hand-made is preferred) to the men in their lives, anyone from fathers, brothers, to sweethearts and coworkers, etc. While little store-bought chocolates are done out of social obligation, hand-made chocolates given to people close to you are obviously something to feel special about.

White Day comes in one month after, where the men are expected to return the favor by giving a gift to the women that thought of them. These gifts are also confections, like white chocolate or marshmallows. But they could also be other tokens that sometimes follow the white theme, depending on who the recipient is. Of course, this was invented by the confection companies decades ago to sell marshmallows, but I don’t sweat it 🙂 Basically White Day is a chance to reciprocate from Valentine’s Day, and for that reason I love it! ^0^

You see, my boyfriend and I aren’t big romantics when it comes to Valentine’s Day. We go all out for birthdays and anniversaries, but Valentine’s Day feels like kind of a forced holiday so we usually don’t do anything, especially if we know we want to save money and avoid spending crazy dollars on gifts. But every once in a while, we’ll agree to have a quiet Valentine’s Day, and BOOM! he gets me an awesome present. Of course I’m all confounded and happy but also frustrated because we agreed no gifts! But because of White Day, now I have a good excuse to reciprocate! So come March 14th, I’m like BLA-DOW! GIFT! and he gets to feel as kerfuffled as I did 😀

So why the egg bag then? Well, obviously it is white 😀 But when I think of White Day, I think of this adorable scene from the manga Cardcaptor Sakura. When Sakura gives hand-made chocolates to her father for Valentine’s Day, he reciprocates on White Day by giving her a handmade backpack that looks just like this.

Yes, her grown father sews. He’s just that cool.

Prj013B

If you’ll pardon how long this diatribe on White Day has gotten, I just have to say it’s things like this that inspired me to keep on sewing through high school. Reading this manga and thinking “that bag is amazing – why can’t things like this exist in stores?” And that’s what made me go to my machine and make it happen. Any costume or other design — from the sweet and sophisticated to the elegant and elaborate — I thought they deserved to exist in real life and not just on paper. So I was inspired to make a bag just like the one in Cardcaptor Sakura, and, of course, Sakura calls it the “Egg Bag.” So for my White Day present to you, I give you this adorable little backpack! x3
