Free Pattern Friday! Quetzalcoatl Plush

Hi everyone!
This ancient Aztec deity surprised me when I first started getting requests for him, but once I started doing research on the design I saw how fun the idea could be. So thank you for all those that suggested and voted! This Aztec creator deity literally translates to feathered serpent, though he has other forms as well.
In this plush version we’re making a classic snake with feather accents, wings, and gold ornaments for the head and tail, all with Aztec inspired motifs. The body is just a simple two pieces, but its swerved spiral shape makes it perfect for wrapping around your arm.
The head is a little more complex because it has a curved forehead, and the body can take a long time to stuff because it’s so long. All the extras like the head feathers, wings, and tail ornament add extra time as well, though you could leave those off and have a great looking snake instead. With all that in mind, I rated it a 4/10 in difficulty.
As always, the pattern comes with applique templates to make the face, tail ornament, wings, and head ornament. These will work if you’re sewing the details by regular machine or by hand. If you have an embroidery machine, you’ll find the embroidery files available for download here or with the buttons below.
I hope you all like it!
