The last set of Adventure Time goodness >w< The last two characters I thought would be perfect for these notebooks is BMO and LSP ^-^ Of course BMO is pretty well known to be gender neutral, so he doesn’t have a gender-swapped version – so with that in mind I thought it might be fun to make one of the versions found in the BMO origin story “Be More” just for some variety and because all the MO iterations are so cute!
Once again, the instructions for this set of characters are the same as groups one and two, with one step changed to account for the different appliqué. Hopefully it’s still just as easy to follow ^-^
I couldn’t help myself! I made some more of the Adventure Time dos-a-dos bound notebooks 😀 This time we have Marceline/Marshall Lee with Princess Bubblegum/Prince Gumball. They’re made just the same as the previous iteration, but just some different appliqué this time. So you’ll see that the instructions are pretty much the same, but one or two have changed to account for the different characters ^-^
The notebooks are back! But this time with an interesting twist! I don’t know how many of you have ever heard of a dos-a-dos, but it’s a form of book binding from the French meaning “back to back” as you can see. It’s not a kind of book I see all that often, and I think that’s a shame because I think the effect is so cool! One book makes two because they share a back cover – you simply flip the book over and you can access the other side. With the double-sided nature of the notebook it just seemed too perfect to apply it to the Adventure Time characters and their gender-swapped counterparts 😀 In fact I’ll probably try this out on some of the other characters because they turned out so great ^-^ And they helped to use up a bunch of my paper stash too.
So are you all the type that loves Nyan Cat or just finds it annoying? I’m the former >w< Sure the song is an addictive and repetitive earworm, but it’s just so darn cute, I can’t help it! I actually made another notebook just like this for my boyfriend a long while back while he was going through a whole bunch of overtime so he’d have something to look forward to when he got home from all that work. The Mario Block Plush was actually one of them, and this was another 😀
I got the idea because I absolutely love bookbinding, though I’m not nearly as skilled at it as I am with sewing. So long back that I barely remember, I bought a multi-pack of rainbow paper. It was for a school project that I don’t even remember the details to 😄 as I probably just used about 10 sheets and was forced to hold onto the rest. I guess that means I must admit that not only do I have a fabric stash problem, I have a paper stash problem too ;o; To tell the truth not only do I have those papers to get rid of, but a while back I got addicted to buying scrapbook paper stacks that I thought were particularly pretty. You’ll see a sample in steps 10-11. I guess I need to get cracking on more notebooks like this if I want to use up all that stuff.
Probably even more obscure than some of the other nerdy holidays I’ve been celebrating, today is International Steampunk Day! I can’t seem to find why today in particular is Steampunk Day, as some have claimed that today is H.G. Wells’ birthday – though it’s not – but there you have it! I sorted through all of my scraps to and put together the best I could with what I have.
At the moment I don’t have a lot of hardware, which you must admit can really help the look of a steampunk item, so I did the best with what I had and looked to some leftover turn-lock closures to make this next project. I started thinking of some of my favorite Jules Verne books and thought a journal cover with a giant squid a la 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea would be a nice fit ^-^ It’s not exactly scientific, but it’s sure adventurous! It’s sized to fit a standard composition book, so you can continually switch out the book once you’ve filled it up with all your epic stories and start fresh! On top of that, there are 8 pencil slots so you could also sketch to your heart’s content as well ^w^!
