New Free & Shop patterns! Godzilla & Chonky T-rex plush!

Godzilla fans have been very vocal about wanting this King of the Monsters for some time. I’m really glad he’s finally got his chance in the spotlight! This classic movie monster has been around since 1954! With so many movies and versions to choose from, it was tough trying to do him justice. In the end I thought it best to stick with the classic movie version to start. But I just couldn’t help myself and I made another version too.

So first we have the free pattern, which is modeled after the older movie version from Toho studios. He’s got a big body with thick legs and tail, big clawed feet and arms, a menacing muzzle, and angry eyes with 3D eyebrows. And to really complete the look he’s got his signature back spikes. He’s got a decent bit of hand sewing, but not an overwhelming amount. So he’s rated a 4/10 in difficulty.

I got so swept away in the monster making that I wanted to try an extremely chonky version. What resulted is something much more like a dinosaur and might be more reminiscent of the 90s version of Godzilla. Either way, this version was so silly to me I had to make it into its own pattern.

This one became its own shop pattern as a Chonky T-Rex! It has a very big block of a body with a squared off head and tiny stumpy legs. So it’s perfect if you’re a fan of silly looking dinosaurs. With the included free pattern hack you can make it into Chonkzilla instead! It swaps out the eyes and back spikes to make the switch.

So which do you think would win? Classic Godzilla or Chonkzilla? šŸ˜‚

If you’re interested in the new Chonky T-Rex pattern, it will be 30% off for the next week. The embroidery is included for this pattern so there are no extra files to buy. And just for fun all other reptile patterns will also be 30% off! Meanwhile the rest of my shop will be 20% off.

As always, the pattern comes with applique templates to make the eyes and other details. These will work if you’re sewing the details by regular machine or by hand. If you have an embroidery machine, the embroidery files are available for free down below for the free pattern and pattern hack. I hope you all like it!

  1. OH dear, now that I brought up Arthur Adams would you put monkey Man and O’Brian in the hopper of possible designs?

  2. it’s a while ago, but do you remember what shannon colours you used for these cuties?

sorry i’m always asking for the colours! it just makes it easier to replicate it how i want it XD

    1. Yes, I think I remember šŸ˜…
Blue spiked Godzilla is: Ash and turquoise
      Gray spiked Godzilla is: Pewter
      Chonkzilla is: Charcoal and turquoise
      Then for the chonky t-rexes:
Green one is: Dark lime, mint, and jewel
Blue one is: Azure and turquoise
and the yellow one is: Lemon, vanilla, and fuchsia
      I hope that helps!
