Store Update – Plushies!

Whew! It’s been a while since I’ve had a proper store update, but that’s what I’ve been working on this past month! If you want to see what’s in store, just scroll down to the photos below. But if you want to hear more about the details then read on ^w^

The story behind this particular slew of items goes way back to my first book, Sew Kawaii! The book is filled with a good deal of plush patterns, so writing the book required loading up on a lot of plush fabrics like minky and faux fur. Needless to say, I had a lot of leftovers. I didn’t think much of it in 2011, but slowly the years went by and I kept getting plush commissions or I’d make things for friends. The problem was, no project ever called for the fabric I already had! I had to keep buying new minky just to get the specific colors I needed. So my collection kept growing xD Now three years later I have a whole bookcase filled with a rainbow of minky fabrics and I’m finally doing something about it!

I’ve found the best way to work through a fabric collection like this is to go by color, so this first store update is nothing but lime green plushies 😀

First up, I did a little collaboration with a very good artist friend of mine named Bianca Roman-Stumpff. She does these utterly adorable Puff Monster paintings. Each one is filled with so much character and are completely one-of-a-kind. For her recent birthday, I made one of her favorite Puff Monsters into a plush. She was so grateful for it 😀 but she did have one request: make more! So I did! If it turns out her fans like them I’ll probably do more colors ^-^ but for now, here’s the green gang!

After that are my original creations, which include a little assortment of octopi that have different colored bottom accents, and some chubby narwhals with spiral horns. There’s also a little huggable Cthulhu and one of what I hope will be a larger collection, one of my punk bunnies! I’ve made hats of these little guys before and now they’re alive in plush form, complete with frayed plaid details on the ears.

I hope you’ll give them a look if you’re a fellow plush lover! As for what’s next? I still have a bit of green left, but this time olive green. Then shortly after that will be orange! So stay tuned if you’re waiting for your favorite color to come up 😀 I’ll be sure to announce it here!
