I’m popping in again with something new during my semi-hiatus! :B
I’ve been itching to make another project with a game controller motif since I made an NES controller messenger bag for my boyfriend more than a year ago 😀 Growing up with the NES and SNES, I just love how retro those designs looked. Especially the controls you would see for arcade games, how the buttons would go along with what you needed for the game. It just seemed like something fun to play around with in a motif. What clinched it was making the BMO plush for the giveaway I held a while back. That little guy is clearly a nod to retro video games, and seeing how his buttons and panels were laid out made me realize all the variety that can be had.
The structure of the pouch is very similar to the Cassette Pouches I did earlier, but these have a dart in them for a little more depth – just another variation of a small project so I can make the most of my strange mix of quilting fabrics x3

More retro technology today! x3 As a child of the 90s I just had to do something with a cassette motif eventually, so here it is 😀 My stash of heavy duty fabrics is almost gone, so I’ve started to break into my quilting cottons, which I thought would be perfect for all the appliqué you see in the designs here. They’re great for holding pencils of course, but also just about anything else, like makeup or spare change. It’s one of those things you never realized how much you needed until you actually have it ^-^
In addition to clearing out the last of my heavyweight fabric stash, I’m also dipping into my stash of lining fabrics. While I think they’re best used for clothing, I don’t have enough of any particular fabric to actually use for a skirt or blazer or something, so I’m stuck using them for smaller projects like these. Since it’s so flimsy it can be kind of a pain to work with, but I’m trying out some things to get it to behave – maybe you’ll like the method I’ve used here!
Also, as I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I’ll have to start paring down from doing weekly projects every week to about every month or so that way I can catch up with some work I need to do and life in general 🙂 Nothing else about the site will change, so I do hope you’ll keep tuning in often to see what I’ve created!

I’m bringing back more retro technology! x3 I’ve already got the Floppy Disk Coasters and tablet case that looks like an old school Gameboy, now boom boxes get a chance to shine! Ahh, the hours I used to spend recording my favorite songs from the radio while sitting in front of my stereo 🙂 I admit the design looks pretty funky and goofy, but I still like it ^-^ In fact, I made it just for me really. I have a few old reliable messenger bags that I think might be ready to put out to pasture, so I wanted to make sure my newest big bag had all the organization I need to keep things in line.
This bag sports a back zipper pocket, loads of inner pockets, and a detachable shoulder strap so I can switch between carrying in my hand or over my shoulder at will. Of course the front is covered with awesome colorful appliqué, and there’s also decorative piping to give it that extra punch 😀

Greetings from Tampa! :B In my 7 months of having this blog I’m finally doing my first automatic post. This weekend I’m in Tampa attending Metrocon, a huge anime convention that I’ve been frequenting for 10 years now! I’m selling all of my cutesy wares that have inhabited my Etsy store for some time. I’ll be back on Monday, so you might not see many comment or email responses from me until then. In addition, my store might change a bit depending on what I’ve sold at the convention. Anyway, onto the sewings!
I’m dating myself today! Are most of you out there old enough to remember floppy disks? :B I don’t know where I would be at this age if it weren’t for them. I remember in middle school my brother and I purchased about 3 dozen of these babies for just a few bucks from a store that was having a going out of business sale. Then we would take trips to the library and use the internet to fill up each disk with the tiniest of snippets of our favorite things XD .jpegs, .gifs, books (in .txt format of course), and .midis. We’d fill up all those disks during the hour that we had then bring them all home x3 It was kind of pathetic but it was all we had during those burgeoning internet years.
Anyhow, I was excited to use the floppy disk motif, but a square could be used so many ways x3 I could have made plushies or pouches I guess, but I thought coasters would be fun! And with all the cotton prints I’m trying to use up it gave me a chance to make the disks look like the brightly colored novelty disks my brother and I caught on sale sometimes. Though of course you all could go with the traditional black ^-^
