Freebie Friday! The Zip Top Purse

I guess this purse is more conceptual than anything >w< It appears to be a typical purse with a flap, but in this case the flap is the top of the bag, which folds over to create the flap. The folding point is made from two grommets that attach on the side where the strap is attached. Then there’s an extra pocket on the front for good measure that’s easy to access. The front skull appliqué is of course completely optional XD but I just had to add it due to my own quirky tastes.
Once again with this purse I was able to put another long-held scrap fabric out to pasture :B Like with most of my plaid scraps, I had this one lying around after I made a pair of pants with it. Also like a lot of other plaid fabrics, I kept making little projects here and there with the scraps until finally this last one put the remainder out of its misery! Woo! Destashing!

Freebie Friday: The Gothic Lolita Satchel

Prj015
I remember the first time I saw a Gothic Lolita Bible. Up until then I was not interested in goth at all. Marilyn Manson was definitely not my thing and I thought all the black and chains and fishnets were kind of boring really – uninspired. But when I cracked open that Gothic Lolita Bible I saw what goth should and could be. Gothic with a capital G if you will :3 This was Victorian-inspired, elaborate, detailed clothing and costumes. It was breathtaking really, and I had a brief stint where I made a lot of Lolita-style costumes that I still love.

The red I used here was a leftover from a costume I made last Halloween, and I had a lot of different ideas in how to use it. It was when I saw all these bits of hardware and lace that needed a home that I tried to find what they could go with, and this red was the best and only answer. The strap was the last bit of a leather trim I purchased many years back for another costume, and it was the perfect length for a handle, so that felt like kismet. The lace was a leftover of some Lolita-style bunny hats I made a collection of a little while back. I still have so much of that lace left XD So expect to see more later! And lastly the buckles were leftover from some other bags I had made. I really like the look of them so I was itching to find a way to use them up.

I think the look all came together quite nicely! And it reminds me of a lot of the bags you’d find in the Gothic Lolita Bible so I feel like I’ve succeeded!

Freebie Friday: The Old School Plaid Bag

Prj009
This bag is a total throwback to my high school days 😀 I can totally see myself using a bag like this when I was in high school, where I absolutely loved plaid (still do, I just try to be more subtle about it) and anything remotely resembling something punk.
The fabric is actually a leftover from some plaid pants I made back in the day, and the rest of the fabrics and the zipper seemed to match so well I couldn’t help but put them all together even if they do look a little loud. The structure of the bag itself is pretty reliable, as it mimics the purse I use regularly today. So you could totally switch out the fabrics with something more subtle and it still makes a great bag.
This is a square shaped messenger style bag with a long shoulder strap, small handle, front pocket, turn lock closure, and flap pocket with an exposed slanted zipper. Because of all the details it takes a while to get it all together, but I use a purse shaped much like this everyday and love it to death 😀 I hope you will too.

Freebie Friday: The Pretty in Plaid Purse

Prj006
Here’s a really flirty, feminine bag for you pink lovers out there 😀
These aren’t the usual sorts of bags I design, but I thought I’d try something that looked a little fancier and less utilitarian than what I usually make.
The fabric was some leftover plaid from a pair of pants I made a long long time ago. It has a delightfully preppy look to it which is what inspired the style of the bag. The pocket is bound with some leftover lace I had while the inside has a set-in zipper.
