Pattern Hack! Night Fury Hoodie

Halloween is fast approaching! So I thought I might share this fast costume idea 😀 It’s an add-on of sorts to my cosplay hoodie pattern, but it works just as well with other hoodie patterns or even with a hoodie you might already own. It’s all the extras you need to make a Night Fury hoodie 🙂

The pattern comes with templates for head spikes, horns, back spikes, applique face templates, and wings as well as instructions for how to insert them into my hoodie pattern. It could even work for the shrug pattern from earlier this month! If you’ve got some sewing experience, it’s easy to see how these fit into an already purchased hoodie as well. Altogether you’ll have an awesome costume in no time!

Free Pattern Friday! Eevee Evolution Hooded Shrug

It’s less than a month now until Halloween! So if you haven’t started your costume ideas yet, now might be a good time to get cracking! And today I have a really simple pattern that makes a great fast costume for sewing newbies 😀 It’s a cute hooded shrug made up to look like, yes, all 9 current Eevee evolutions 🙂

Just like my previous zippered pouch pattern, I felt I couldn’t possibly introduce this pattern without creating all 9 versions, so no one’s favorite gets left out. The pattern is for a fun short jacket that pairs well with lots of casual outfits so it makes a quick and super cute costume. The sizes are for adults and range from XS up to 5XL.
You can usually pick your size based what size t-shirt you wear, but there’s a size chart in the pattern file as well. Since the jacket isn’t super fitted, there’s some leeway with what size you pick. So larger kids could likely get away with an XS.

If you haven’t made much clothes before, this pattern will be perfect for you! If you have knowledge of darts and hemming you’re in the clear. The only thing that might slow you down is all the little details that make the characters what they are. I hope you all like it!

New Shop Pattern! Cosplay Hoodie

Hi everyone!
This new pattern has been SO long in the works – so I can’t thank everyone enough for your patience! It’s definitely one of my most requested patterns. An animal themed cosplay hoodie!
It’s the hoodie pattern I’ve been using for years to make original and fanart characters for conventions. And with summer and convention season coming up, it seemed like the perfect time to put the finishing touches on it. It’s a really simple and streamlined pattern that’s perfect for making quick changes and customizations to.

I’ve been sewing these hoodies actually for a lot longer than I’ve been making patterns, so I kind of wanted to be sure my skills at instructions were well-secured before launching such a big project. I’ve done dozens of characters, so it was hard to determine what should be included in the pattern. In the end I stuck with the most popular features along with options and tips for using the pattern as the base for your own original characters. The pattern comes with bear ears, cat/fox/wolf ears, extra-long rabbit ears (another fan favorite), and bat or bird wings. There are also options to give it basic wrist cuffs, a contrast bottom band, or thumb hole cuffs. And to finish it off there are tons of applique templates for putting a cute face or fun stripes and spots on your character.

The actual construction of the hoodie also contains help with sewing with knits, zipper installation, hemming, and even how to use a twin needle. There are two options, both a women’s-style fitted hoodie or a unisex/men’s-style relaxed or “boyfriend” hoodie. And what’s great is the sizes range from an adult XS up to 5XL! They need a lot of pages to print out the templates, so I’ve offered the option of buying the patterns pre-printed if you want to skip that step for a few dollars more.
So if you’re interested in making a costume hoodie either of a favorite character or one you made up yourself, this will get you there without a lot of extra work. And the extra ear and wing patterns offer loads of mix-and-match options, not to mention giving you something to work off of if you want to design your own parts.

I sincerely hope you all like how it turned out 🙂 I’ll consider doing more clothing or at least more characters if it goes well!
To celebrate its launch, I’m offering the pattern for 33% off for the first week!
I hope you’ll give it a look!

Store Update! Aviator Hats Are Back!

Hello everyone!

After taking another short break for book writing, I’m happy to say that my Etsy store has another update!

The faux suede steampunk aviator caps are back in stock 😀 with a few new custom variations to choose from. These hats were a big hit last year when I debuted them during a giveaway, and I’ve been working hard to bring them back as soon as I could ^-^

Collection

Most of the original color choices are back, along with a few new colors including light gray and red. All of the original ear choices also apply, including cat, fox, and rabbit. But now there is also a deer ear option which comes with little plush antlers! You could also opt to have the antlers on a rabbit hat to make it a jackalope x3

Collection

Also in the update are some of my hoodie designs brought back as made-to-order options. While I am prepping for my attendance to Metrocon in June, it’s still a ways away so I thought I’d offer up these listings for purchase until I have to focus on Metrocon more ^-^ I’ll likely have these listings up for about a month or two until I have to focus on the convention entirely and then I’ll have to bring them down until everything blows over.

I hope you all enjoy the new creations! I’ll be here taking orders, prepping for the con, and designing some new free patterns for the blog in between ^-~ See you next time!

Huge Holiday Etsy Store Update!

As promised, my Etsy store has gone through a huge update in time for the holidays today! I finally used up the last of the fleece yardage that I purchased a while ago, and I’ve stocked up with some new designs as well as revamped some older ones.

Those that entered my Bat Hat Giveaway will be getting coupons to my store soon so they can run hog wild. But if you didn’t enter I still have something for you!
To everyone else, I offer you this!
Sale
From now until December 18th, you can get 10% off everything you buy in the store 😀 The 18th deadline is about when you can still expect Christmas delivery if you are in the United States, so hopefully with this coupon some of your Christmas shopping will be taken care of! If you’re not sure how to use coupon codes on Etsy, they have a handy and simple how-to here.

First up I’ve redone all of my fruit kitty designs >w< I admit they're a little silly, but I just think they're so colorful and pretty.

Next up I used up a bunch of my scraps of different fleece to whip up these little panda and penguin hats 😀 I just love designs that use multiple colors like this, so I used up every scrap I had to make a plethora of pandas and penguins in a whole rainbow!

After that I have my group of punk animal hats >w< These are the ones that I just love to decorate with loads of hardware and plaid. They include some punk bunnies both in extra-long ear version and a medium-length ear, a punk kitty (complete with piercings), and a few odd-man-out hats, like the bat hats in both black and purple, and a new cyberpunk bunny design x3

I’ve also restocked some steampunk-themed hats, including small earflap hats, extra-long bunny ear hats, and a new steampunk circus bunny hat!

Zombiekitty8Zombunny16Zombunny11InsanityKitty2
There are also new zombie animal hats! Including an earflap kitty hat, zombunny hats in medium and extra-long ear length, and a new concoction, the insanity kitty hat XD Which came about from some scraps of fleece I had that looked incredibly schizophrenic. I thought adding a creepy face like the one seen on my reversible backpack I posted earlier would bring it all together. And it looks downright chilling to me! >w<

PenguinPinkPenguinGrayPenguinBluePenguinAquaPenguinTurquoise
And lastly there are some new hoodies in stock! With the last scraps of colorful fleece I had I was able to whip up some penguins 😀 So there aren’t many sizes available, but I think you’ll really like how they turned out!

I hope you all enjoy the new items and maybe take advantage of the coupon! It might be some time before I have another update, but I definitely have things cooking in the background :B I think you’ll really be blown away by some of the items I’ll be finishing next year!

Etsy Store Update!

At the moment I’m preparing to attend an anime convention called Metrocon in July, for the next few weeks I’ll be working on making some products to sell there. Up until then I’ll have those new products on my Etsy store in case anyone in the net-o-sphere is interested :3

PunkBunnyTeal
First is a teal version of my Punk Bunny Hat, which got everyone’s attention on DeviantArt last year by being a daily Deviation XD of course everyone wanted one and I was in barely any position to make them as I was working on books at the time. I finally got around to making some more, albeit in a different color scheme, that way I could use up some scrap plaid fabric I had 😀

Zombunny9
Next is just a little Zombie Bunny (Zombunny) hat that I made with some extra olive green fleece I had :B It’s a very simple design without all the blood and guts of other zombies, but it’s one of my favorites nonetheless >w<

Fox2
Next is a very cute Fox Hoodie that I whipped up from scraps of orange and white fleece. Unfortunately I didn’t have much fabric so I could only make the one. It features black hand mitts, an adorable fox face, and attached ears.

Backpack9Backpack8Backpack5
And up last is a bag that’s based off of one of the projects from Sewing Stylish Handbags. It’s arguably one of the most unusual projects from the book xB But in the book you can find a pattern for a reversible creature bag just like this. I modified the pattern to make one side of the bag into a Zombie Kitty and the reverse side into a Killer Rabbit (a la Monty Python and the Holy Grail). The bright red eyes and drooling mouths are particularly weird and creepy, so I suggest this bag is definitely not for the faint of heart or those with grown-up tastes XD The middle reversible zipper is both the opening for the bag and the mouth of your creature, and the straps clip on with hook rings so you can remove the them when you turn the bag right side out to reveal your new character.

That’s all I have to show off now! I’ll be getting back to work and hopefully have another update for you soon! 😀
