Free Pattern Friday! Neko Atsume Plush

Neko Atsume Plush sewing pattern by Sew Desu Ne?

So I bet a lot of you have discovered Neko Atsume (Kitty Collector) by now. I’m quite hooked myself so I just had to do some fanart to show my love for the game 😀 I whipped up some of my favorite kitties in plush form to have them around. The pattern utilizes a super simple sphere-like shape with a few twists. I could see it being really easy to adapt into other characters – I’m tempted to make a Luna, Artemis, and Diana trio myself!

In the meantime, I hope you all enjoy this pattern! I’ve given it a 2/10 stars, and even though it calls for some darts and curved sewing, I could see it as a great project if you’re a plush maker wanting to break out into something more complex 🙂

Freebie Friday! Chain Chomp Plush

Prj063

I made this plush mostly to help clear out some of my fleece scraps, but also because it seemed like something really simple that would make a huge impact, and I don’t think I was wrong 😀 I just love the huge menacing grin on this guy! If there are fans of the Super Mario games out there, you might recognize this as one of the minor enemies you defeat in your adventures. It was a lot of fun seeing him come together, and even more fun getting to swing him around when he’s done :3

Freebie Friday! Yoshi Egg Potholders

Prj063

Putting together this project was kind of a lucky break for me 😀 At my house we’re in desperate need of some more potholders, particularly because I do a lot of baking and cooking and somehow the ones I have always end up disappearing! I had some extra scraps of terry cloth and seeing the colors I had to choose from – white and pastel shades of pink, blue, and green – the boyfriend commented on how much they looked like Yoshi eggs, so it was an easy choice from there! They’re essentially dinosaur eggs, so if you’re not familiar with Yoshi you can just think of them like that ^-^ The egg shape makes it ideal for giving your hand a nice wide area to grip the potholder with, and the pocket on the back is helpful for keeping it on your hand. I know most potholder patterns include a loop for hanging, but I never use those so I kept them off of mine. I hope you agree that the finished egg looks just like it came out of the Mario games 😀

Freebie Friday! The Game Controller Pouch

Prj052

I’m popping in again with something new during my semi-hiatus! :B

I’ve been itching to make another project with a game controller motif since I made an NES controller messenger bag for my boyfriend more than a year ago 😀 Growing up with the NES and SNES, I just love how retro those designs looked. Especially the controls you would see for arcade games, how the buttons would go along with what you needed for the game. It just seemed like something fun to play around with in a motif. What clinched it was making the BMO plush for the giveaway I held a while back. That little guy is clearly a nod to retro video games, and seeing how his buttons and panels were laid out made me realize all the variety that can be had.

The structure of the pouch is very similar to the Cassette Pouches I did earlier, but these have a dart in them for a little more depth – just another variation of a small project so I can make the most of my strange mix of quilting fabrics x3

Prj045
Mwahaha! More old-school video game motifs are back 😀 This time it’s the energy tank from the Megaman series ^-^ I thought it would look perfect to wrap around your favorite cup of coffee since that’s what energizes most of us in the morning. I have a lot of fun memories of awesome memories of watching and playing Megaman >w< It was super simple to put together, and I was able to deplete some of my quilting cotton stash with it. I hope you’ll give it a try too to keep your favorite cup of joe warm!

Freebie Friday! The Power-up Quilt Blocks

Prj038
The pixel art is back! If you all remember the Heart Piece Pillow Cover, you’ll remember my love of all things 8-bit >w< I’ve been itching to make something pixely again so I gave it another go! With some leftover light blue fabric I thought maybe I could get some quilt-block sized squares to resemble the items panel from Super Mario Brothers 3. Granted of course the items in that panel didn’t include a 1-up and a coin x3 but I had to make the items that my fabric stash would allow.

The pixels would have been far too small to make the blocks pieced, so I assembled the icons with appliqué instead 😀 I think it was a bit quicker than piecing all the little squares together, but I wouldn’t say one method is better than another 🙂 For large pixels I think squares are still a fun way to go. Maybe I’ll revisit these blocks later and make more ^-^ enough for a full quilt!
