Free Pattern Friday! Soot Sprite plush!

Hey everyone! I’ve got another cute Ghibli character to add to my growing collection! These Soot Sprites are well known from the movies My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away. They’re little black balls of fluff with long skinny arms and legs for walking around. They come with their favorite food, little star candies called konpeito.

This pattern will take you several versions of how to make them, including a super basic round version that’s perfect for beginners. From there you can move up to one that’s more 3D, then you can add wired arms and legs, or even add magnets so they can hold onto their little star candies! So the difficulty ranges from a 1 to about a 3 out of 10.

As always, the pattern comes with applique templates to make the eyes. These will work if you’re sewing the details by regular machine or by hand. If you have an embroidery machine, you’ll find the embroidery files available for download with the buttons below. I hope you all like it!
