Free Pattern Friday! Yoshi Plush

Fans of the Super Mario universe should recognize this cute dino pal! Yoshi has been a staple to the Mario franchise since the Super Nintendo days. He’s got a ton of original games and appears in countless others — it’s no wonder he voted so high on my pattern poll! It was such a blast to design this little guy that I’ve enjoyed since childhood!
This version of the plush has a sitting pose with a plump body and a stubby little tail. He’s got chubby cheeks, his signature bulbous nose, and tiny accent spikes. To complete the look, he’s got little arms, a tiny shell, and big accent boots.
The assembly for Yoshi’s head is a little strange to achieve his unique shape. But it’s broken down step by step to make it more manageable. Just don’t be surprised if some parts seem out of order — it’s all part of the strange process. The legs, arms, head, nose, and shell are attached by hand so be sure to give yourself plenty of time for that. With all that in mind, it’s rated a 5/10 in difficulty.
As always, the pattern comes with applique templates to make the eyes and nostrils. These will work if you’re sewing the details by regular machine or by hand. If you have an embroidery machine, you’ll find the embroidery files available for download here or with the buttons below. I hope you all like it!
