Hello everyone! I’ve got a new pattern I’ve recently added to my shop!
I had been promising to do a bird collection for fans for quite some time now, and I finally had the chance to tackle this big project! Goodness knows there are thousands of bird species, so at least to start I thought this group could cover some popular pet birds and some small birds. But it’s also spooky season, so to spice things up this pattern has a variation for plague doctor birds as well!
The bird base has a chubby body with a tiny tail that turns up at the back. It has your choice of closed wings or open wings that use wire to make them posable. The feet can also be wired to make a standing bird, or if you skip the wire you can make a sitting bird. But the fun part is all the different crests, beaks, tails, and other markings you can use to make different species!

In the examples I was able to showcase a budgie parakeet, cockatiel, cockatoo, raven, cardinal, canary, lovebird, and even a New York pigeon made the scene, complete with a slice of pizza! But you could certainly make lots of other birds with the different options. Meanwhile the plague birds come with templates to make a classic flat top hat, a short cape, a hooded cape, a witch hat for some extra fun, and a lantern to complete the look. This was a great chance to make up some new plague doctor mask looks, but you’ll find that the old applique and embroidery from my first plague doctor pattern is sized just right for these birds as well!

As usual, the pattern comes with applique templates for the eyes and wing markings. So you can stitch those on by hand or regular embroidery machine. But if you have an embroidery machine you can purchase the embroidery files separately. All the designs have 4×4 hoop options, they just might have minor changes to make them fit.
