Hello everyone!
An alligator creeped up pretty high on my pattern poll, and it seemed like the next best animal to try out next since nearly all the others above it are fanart 🥰 This one turned out like a spiritual successor to my lizard pattern, and it has the same quirky look but with some major changes.
It has a super long body with spikes going all the way down to the tail tip. Meanwhile the head still has the bulging eyes but it also has a short wide snout. You have the option of adding in teeth for a goofy grin, or you can make the mouth open wide for a really ferocious result! I used an ultra-firm interfacing called Peltex on the inside of the mouth to keep it relatively flat and firm.
But while making an alligator, it would be crazy not to also make an alligator Loki! The reference is a tad old at this point, but it looks like they are making a second season of the show! So I’ve included a free expansion to make a pair of removable horns for your gator’s head 💚 You can find the link below.
As usual, the pattern comes with applique templates for the eyes and nostrils. So you can stitch those on by hand or regular embroidery machine. But if you have an embroidery machine you can purchase the embroidery files separately. Most of the designs have 4×4 hoop options, and some of the detailed pieces can even be sewn in the hoop.
To celebrate the launch, the new pattern will be 30% off from now through the 3rd of August. Also the embroidery will be 50% off. All other swamp and sea creatures like mermaids and seahorses will be 20% off. Meanwhile the rest of my shop will be 10% off. I hope you’ll give it a look! And if you do, I hope you enjoy it!
And below you’ll find the link for the horn expansion! The helmet has a strap so it’s removable if you prefer the option of horns or no horns. But for a more secure hold you could also just attach it directly to the alligator’s head. I hope you enjoy it!
