Hi everyone!
Today’s the start of the lunar new year! And to celebrate the Chinese Year of the Ox (which covers many animals in the bovine family), I did this cow plush!
It has a very tiny four-legged body that stands on its own. I don’t usually do body shapes like this for my free patterns, since they’re more complex, so I tried my best to keep the little 3D legs as simple as possible. The body is broken down into simple shapes in the instructions, and if you’ve done my Shiba cube before, you might find some similarities there.
It has a big muzzle along with tiny ears and horns. It’s head is comically big for its body, so you’ll find the body needs an extra-large poly pellet pouch to offset the weight. You can give it fun accent colors in its body spots and hooves. And for extra fun I added an optional leaf for it to munch on and a cute flower crown! The crown is made from jewelry wire wrapped in fabric, then adorned with several felt flowers.
With all that in mind, I rated it a 4/10 in difficulty. As always, the pattern comes with both applique templates if you’ve got a regular sewing machine or embroidery files if you have an embroidery machine 🙂 The face will fit 4″ x 4″ hoops if you rotate the fabric diagonally and skip the eye spot.

Probably my favorite new pattern! It reminds me of the old harvest moon cow!!! funny this came out because I bought the Chibi pattern to make the sprites out of last month lol! ( they are very much so under construction) I have always been Big Into that game and Sos!!! so I have to just express my gratitude for this!<3 Thank you!

I can’t find the nostril pattern for cut put in the pdf. Should I use the placement guide on the muzzto cut and trace or is it the same size/shape as eyeshine? Looks different!

Hello! I’m so sorry the nostril template isn’t in there! Something must have gone wrong with the export. But regardless, you can use the lines on the muzzle template as tracing guides as well 😊
I think theres an error in this pattern, it says to cut out (1) leaf when in your instructions you sew together (2) leaf pieces.

Can we use interfacing for the appliqué-Ing?
Unfortunately no :/ Interfacing is mostly for adding structure to things. But the fusible web mentioned is an adhesive that will fuse the eyes to your project. So it will keep all those tiny pieces fully secured while you sew them down ♥
My 6 year old daughter is in LOVE with this little cow plushie I’m making two for her as we speak!
She also has a pressing question for you. Are you just surrounded by the plushies you make? She’s trying to picture all the plushies from your free patterns and their variations plus the ones I’ve showed her from your Etsy shop. She says and I quote “they must have a whole MOUNTAIN of stuffed animals!!! Where do they KEEP THEM!?”

Unfortunately no, it’s just top stitched with regular machine straight stitches.
Hi Choly! i have a question about the embroidery files…is there a file for the spot on the cow’s face? i haven’t been able to figure out if any of the spots are for the face or not. I’m hoping to make this as a Christmas gift for my friend, and having a bit of trouble finding this one eye piece. Thank you for sharing this pattern, it’s one of my new favorites!! <3
The spot for the cow’s face is in the 5×7 size folder 😊 The eyes and spot together were too big for a 4×4 hoop. I hope that helps!
