Free Pattern Friday! Korok Plush

Hi everyone!
This month’s free pattern is a nod to The Legend of Zelda games! A fun little korok! These are cute forest pixies that can be found in The Wind Waker and Breath of the Wild Games. They have tiny wooden bodies and leaf masks that come in dozens of colors. There are a good handful of other patterns, both free and paid, for these little guys. This version has some leaf shapes I hadn’t seen a lot elsewhere. So you can still use the ones here to make lots of different koroks, or maybe combine them with others so you can get every leaf shape! Since every korok is different you can’t go wrong!

With that in mind, I rated this one a 2/10, because the body just has one simple dart. There’s a good bit of applique in the leaf with all the different markings. But to be honest koroks have that rustic, handmade look to them anyway, so even if you make some mistakes you’re still sure to have a great result. I personally got some Spoonflower fabric printed for their bodies (here’s some I designed, and a great alternative from Dolphinwing), though solid colors work just as well too! ♥

There are also embroidery files for the leaves and faces. Because of the different leaf shapes and sizes, not everything could fit into a 4″ x 4″ hoop. So you’ll find some modified versions for the smaller size so no one is completely left out. Some of the 5″ x 7″ sizes have the leaves sewn in the hoop so you can save some work there <3
I hope you all like it!

  1. They reminds me of mandrakes 🙂
    🤗
Since I have to admit I never really played LOZ, I guess I will make some mandrakes from this pattern 🎶👌🏻

  2. THANK YOU! I always wanted to make these but never had time or found a pattern I liked! I love all of your works and I’m really looking forward to making these and hiding them around my bf’s room for Valentines! Yahaha! <3

    1. Thank you for this great pattern! I enlarged it to make a korok Halloween costume for my toddler from EVA foam and honestly I’ve never been prouder of a craft project. You ko-rock!

  3. You should’ve heard the noise I made when i saw this on Instagram XD I’m so happy and excited for this pattern, thank you!!

Is there any chance you could share where you got the material for the bodies? It’s absolutely perfect. (Sorry if that’s a rude question at all!).

    Thanks! 🙂

  4. I don’t play Zelda much, as I am a Playstation gamer, but a lot of my friends like Nintendo. Guess i’m going to be weird and make my platonic friends gifts for valentines!

  5. Would it still look like a korok if I used black for the body? I have a bunch of 6’ by 1’ pieces of black. They were skyscraper decorations and I want Tom make something from them.

    1. Hm, it might look a little off since most koroks are plant/tree colored — so lots of shades of brown and green. A black body might make it look like burnt wood though, haha! So maybe you could think of it like that :0

  6. We can’t wait to make these, but we are having trouble finding the color for the face masks in Fleece.

Where did you find the color?

    1. Hello!
I actually used minky for the masks, specifically from Fabric.com 🙂 Unfortunately they’ve scaled back their site due to the virus, but the green fleece selections from Joann’s might do in a pinch: https://www.joann.com/blizzard-fleece-fabric–solids/prd7089.html#start=1
There is also a shop called Fabric Empire that has a good selection of fleece colors 🙂 http://www.fabricempire.com/fleece-solid-colors.aspx
I hope one of those might help!

  7. Hi CholyKnight, i absolutely adore these little babies! i’m a complete noob at machine embroidery although i’m absolutely love it so far. i’m having an issue with the 5×7 files though. They’re transferring to my machine, but not popping up on the screen, ready to embroider. the 4x4s are prefection though! I use .PES files in a brother.

when i get better i plan to make the adorable AF eastern and western style dragons on your etsy 🙂

    1. Hello! Thank you for the kind words about the patterns! I’m glad you’re enjoying them 🙂
Regarding your machine, can it handle 5×7 files? Sadly if the machine is meant for a 4×4 hoop it can’t usually upload any file larger than that. That’s at least my best guess at the issue for now! I’ll look into it and see if anything else might be the cause 🙂

  8. Thank you so much for the wonderful pattern! It was very easy to follow along, even though it was my first time sewing a knit fabric or a plush. I didn’t have fusible web, so I monogram/satin stitched the leaf patterns on freehand and appliqued on the eyes and mouth. I finished it in under 18 hours with sleep, and I think the gift recipient didn’t even realize it was handmade at first. This was amazing.

  9. We saw the fabric you created for your Korok and wondered if it is possible to make it available to purchase in a blue version?

    1. Hello! Thank you so much! The time it takes can depend a lot on your skill level, but generally I’ve seen it range from about 40 minutes to a whole day. For me I’m personally in the 40 minute range.

  10. Thank you so much for sharing this pattern! This little guy was a delight to make and I hope to make more, I was almost crying from how cute and perfect they are to hold. xD
