Hello everyone!
I’ve got a new pattern that I’ve recently added to my Etsy shop 😀
Although I’ve done lots of dragons in the past, I felt like I never gave due diligence to Eastern style dragons. Even my free pattern for the Haku scarf just isn’t quite the same as making a proper plush, so I thought I’d really go all out with this one!
It’s a 4-legged standing plush similar to my recent Big Cat Griffins and Fawn & Unicorn, except it has an elegant long body and a more powerful looking head. What I wanted most was a something that could do Haku justice (you can see on my Patreon how I did the tests to look like him). I opted to call it the “Long Dragon Plush” because it was just too perfect that long is the word for dragon in Chinese 😀 The Lunar New Year is coming up this Saturday, so while it may not be something for the year of the rat, it would still be a fun way to celebrate!
It has options to make the body with clawed legs or more paw-like legs depending on the look you’re going for. That’s one thing I love about dragons is how creative you can get with the designs and it just makes them look more epic! For example wings aren’t typical for an Eastern dragon, but I included them anyway just in case and I think they made a great addition to the purple one!
You can do the body accents as either flat spikes from minky or fluffy faux fur if you’re willing to wrangle with it. I used Shannon Lux Fancy Feather Violet and Shannon Lux Fur Mongolian Red. But most fur that has about a 30-40mm pile works well.
And for an extra touch I included how to do antler garlands (just like in the Fawn & Unicorn pattern). So that’s a repeat, but I just couldn’t resist putting some cherry blossoms on the cream sakura dragon <3
There are a lot of little details that make this plush super epic, but if you’ve done some of the other similar ones before then this one should have some familiar aspects. Overall I rated it a 7/10 like the others.
There’s embroidery available to help make it a bit easier, which includes a menacing looking eye (complete with a scarred counterpart) and a friendlier one. You can also stitch up a fun forehead jewel for an extra accent. All the pattern parts fit 4” x 4” hoops so you can embroider this pattern no matter what you’ve got 😀
To celebrate its launch, the pattern will be 30% off for the first weekend! And the embroidery will be 50% off! I hope you’ll give it a look! And if you snagged a copy, I hope you enjoy it!

Adorable! I really like the variety of face choices.
Magnifique!
if a friend and I both contribute to buying a pattern, can we both use it or do we have to buy 2 copies?
This is a beautiful pattern! It came together so nicely and I love all the customizations! I have a couple of pattern suggestions, I would love to see an armadillo, an anteater, and a monkey!
do you ever sell the plush itself?
I do sell the finished samples whenever I create a new pattern 😊 However the samples from this pattern have already sold 😓
It looks so cool! When I saw this I thought it would be perfect to make my beastie a haku! When I saw it costed money….:[
