New Shop Pattern! Merpeople Plush Doll

Hello everyone!
I’ve got a new pattern that I’ve recently added to my Etsy shop 😀

With it being May I just had to do something for Mermay! And doing a mermaid version of my human doll plush pattern was on my list for quite some time. So long, in fact, that I had a huge list of ideas I wanted to try. I did as many as I could and it ended up being quite intense!

In addition to the classic mermaid/merman with several tail fin options, you can also make a removable tail fin, or octopus legs! The pattern breaks everything down into sections so it’s easier to keep track of what version you’re doing 🙂 And to adorn the merperson, there are lots of male and female hairstyles as well as a classic seashell bra, eyepatch, and fun sailor tattoos.
What’s especially great about the removable tail is that you can then make selkies! They’re the mythical seal version of a mermaid that change from human to seal when they have their sealskin coat. So of course I had to include a fluffy seal coat pattern as well! It’s inspired by the one seen in Song of the Sea – a really beautiful animated movie you may have heard of if you like selkies.

The main pattern comes with applique templates but embroidery files for all the faces and tattoos are available separately <3 There’s a set of sultry mermaid eyes as well as merman eyes. Included are the tattoos as well, all in several sizes so you’re not boxed into just using them for this pattern. All the major parts fit 4” x 4” hoops. The one exception is some additional embroidery for tail fin scales. Sadly those can only fit in 5” x 7” hoops.

To celebrate its launch, the pattern will be at 40% off for the first weekend! And the embroidery will be 50% off! I hope you’ll give it a look! And if you snagged a copy, I hope you enjoy it!

  1. Wow! This pattern is so awesome, I can’t wait to make some merfolk! Would the hairstyles in this pattern work for the chibi human doll as well?

    1. I’m wondering if anyone has tried making the octopus legs removable? I want to try but don’t want to waste that much material if it won’t work! TYIA!
