Free Pattern Friday! Red Panda Plush

Hi everyone!
I hope you enjoy this new free pattern I whipped up! I had a few requests for a red panda, and what pushed me over the edge was Sanrio’s new Netflix show, Aggretsuko <3 About a sweet 20-something office lady red panda who vents her frustrations by singing death metal karaoke. I absolutely adored it and had to make a red panda.
As a change of pace, I thought I’d try to make this pattern a little easier, so it has a simpler body that I’d rate a 2/10. I did want to sink my teeth into some part of it, so I had a lot of fun making a big colorful striped tail. That part has a lot of curved sewing, but I think it’s pretty straightforward. So it might be good practice for someone that hasn’t done much curved sewing yet.

You can sew all the features with fusible web applique or using the embroidery files I’ve included below. The face needs at least a 5” x 7” hoop. All of the white face markings are done in applique to keep them nice and fuzzy <3 I hope you all like it!

  1. Hello! Thank you so much for all the fabulous patterns!!! I only have access to an embroidery machine with a 4×6 hoop. Is it possible to use your file but just do half at a time? Thanks!

    1. Hello! I’m so glad you’re enjoying the patterns! If I remove the cutting guides from the embroidery, it should fit fully on a 4″ x 6″ hoop. If you know what file type you need I can send it your way 🙂

      1. I’m in the same situation! Can I also get a PES file that will fit on a 4 x 6? This is such an adorable pattern, I would love to be able to have an embroidered face 🙂 Thanks!

Thanks you so much! Sorry it took me so long to thank you. As I’ll be borrowing a neighbors machine, I don’t know what type of file I need. But, I see you gave a link a couple comments down. Thanks again!

  2. Aww this is sooo cute😍😍 I’m definitely going to make this!!! Maybe you can make a Guinean pig plush pattern? I bet it’ll be adorable if you do!

  3. I love aggretsuko!! She is so cute!!

Could you make a simple pattern for a standing or sitting 4 legged animal? That would be so cool!

I love all your patterns btw!!

  4. This is just the sweetest looking pattern. I hope to get on this after all the summer events that have been going on. And I have an embroidery machine so I want to try the embroidered face. Thank you so much.

    1. When I cut the eyes out the fabric is usually already fused to fusible web 🙂 So having that layer of paper attached to the fabric before cutting really helps with accuracy and keeping them looking crisp around the edges. But aside from that I typically use my regular fabric shears 😀 Hopefully that helps you too!

  5. Thanks a lot for these awesome patterns ! Can’t wait to try this one ! And thanks a lot for embroidery files, i’m kinda new to embroidery machine, and it’s really cool to have your files and all your explanations !
I’m wondering, do you plan do add more paying embroidery files for making your etsy plush ? Because i’m not a hudge fan of appliqués, and i really love your patterns, thanks for all again 😉

    1. Thanks so much for the kind words about my work! I do plan on making more embroidery files for my paid patterns 🙂 I’ve got a lot to get through, but I’m slowly but surely getting through them!

      1. Can’t wait to see more of your creations ! And I have to say, your patterns are really well made and so well explain, and all the explanations are simple and colorfully made, that’s a pleasure to read, and make plush ! Thanks for answering my comment, I will check you etsy account regularly for more embroiderys files 😉

  6. Can somebody help me ASAP please?!
I cannot find “black/white applique fabric” anywhere!
Looked at Joann Fabrics & Hobby Lobby, and online. Fairly new to sewing, does it go by a different name? All I am finding online is stupid iron on patches, and none plain black or white.
I tried to just cut the face bits out of some cotton I have but 8 attempts l8r…
Pleeeeaasseee somebody this is for a birthday that’s on the 7th!!
It means a lot that i get this done PROPERLY </3

Thank you so much for the pattern. I’ve never made a plush before, my experience is in bag making. This is super cute. I can’t wait to make it for my niece. It is unfortunate that the hoop size needs to be 5×7. I have a Brother SE600 which uses a 4×4 hoop or smaller.

    1. I’m sorry about the embroidery being too large! I could export a version without the cheek markings that would fit into a 4″ x 4″ hoop if that would help 🙂
