Wow! I can’t believe it’s November already. I really missed October going by so soon, but I’m also excited about November and the promise of fall weather and some holiday shopping. I hope you all have been having a good autumn season as well! I have lots of fun projects planned for the rest of the year and even a few leading into the new year <3 But first things first is the next monthly crafting challenge pattern!

A Peryton!
Deer and stags are a common theme in legendary tales and stories, but I knew if did a deer there wouldn’t be much to set it apart from the regular woodland animal. It was with the help of you all that suggested a Peryton that made this possible! By suggesting this hybrid bird/deer I could make a cute deer plush with that mythic spin. Perytons are first mentioned in the Book of Imaginary Beings as a winged deer or bird/deer hybrid. Some variations have bird hind-quarters, but I stuck with the all-deer body for ease. Instead you have your choice of classic deer ears and tail or feathered ones for that extra bird-like touch.

As for difficulty: like with my other ‘beanie’ style plushies, this one has a head that’s sewn on by hand into the crook of the front legs. So that’s a little tricky to do. There’s also some optional top-stitching done on the wings, ears, and tail that add more depth to the plush. With all that in mind, I gave it a 4/10 stars in difficulty.
