Throwback Thursday plus New Mini Sushi Pattern!

Three years ago when my blog was way in its infancy I launched the Monthly Crafting Challenge with a set of 13 sushi plushies 😀 I still look back on them fondly because they felt like the perfect little patterns to get things going. Simple, varied, and so very loveable. I felt inclined to go back and give them a reboot – not only to redo them in nicer fabrics and freshen up their look, but also to expand the idea further.

I redid the most popular designs in minky, made the faces much larger and brighter, and of course improved the pattern so the directions are much more detailed 😀 I had a lot of fans over the years tell me they made the whole set to give as an impressive gift to friends and family. I imagine they must have been show stoppers since each plush is about handheld size. That’s why I got inspired to do a set of mini plushies, complete with wooden tray or bento box for display! They’d make incredible gifts for any sushi lovers out there.

These new patterns are now available in my shop! It includes a whole set featuring nigiri sushi, wasabi, ginger, maki roll, sushi tray, and bento box pattern.

  1. I LOVE the reboots!!! I mean they were ridiculously cute before but now? They are PERFECTLY CUTE. I want to make the whole set as a play sushi set for my 3 year old. I hope you’ll sell tons of patterns when I finish the set I’ll be posting it in some busy places on facebook 😀 not to mention how perfect would these be for convention crafters??? I think these would go fast in a dealer room!

    1. Aw! Thank you so much! ♥ I can’t wait to see how yours turn out!! And you’re right about conventions! I can definitely see these filling up the table 😀 And the tiny ones would work well as charms — totally didn’t notice that until now 😀
