Hey everybody!
We’re fully into summer down here in Florida despite it being only June, but May has been a great month! Working on this month’s pattern was a ton of fun and I got a chance to develop some new projects for later in the year as well. Hopefully those all turn out okay so I have some new and exciting things to show you!

This month is another treat for classic creature lovers…

A Griffin!

You might notice that their body style looks similar to the Dragons I did earlier in February 🙂 This was no accident! I really liked that style and as I was developing these little guys I thought it would make a great fit. It helped to really display the wings, make the chibi claws easier to sew, and, best of all, make it perfect for tossing around for some flying practice. I had so much fun seeing them come together. Between the wings with all the topstitched feather details, to the little ears with a bit of an owlish look, down to the chubby little toes, it was just a blast to make.
I gave this one a 4/10 stars since it has a lot of tiny pieces to sew, a good deal of hand sewing, and just a lot of dexterity and details involved. I don’t think it’s so overwhelming if you take it one step at a time. I hope if you give it a try you’ll agree that it’s worth it 🙂
