Today we’re tackling probably the hardest section of the quilt: B2 – Nyan Cat’s face!
If you need to catch up:
Week 1 we covered materials
Week 2 we did section C1 – the top left corner of the quilt
Week 3 we did section A1 – the top part of the quilt above the pop tart
Week 4 we did section C3 – the bottom left corner of the quilt
Week 5 we did section A3 – the top right corner of the quilt
Week 6 we introduced Nyan Cat’s feets – section B3 – the bottom stretch of the quilt
Week 7 we started on the pop tart – section A2 – the upper stretch of the pop tart
and Week 8 we did a large chunk of the pop tart – section B1 – the square to the left of Nyan Cat’s head
This week still has a lot of strips, but not nearly that many colors as before:
For section B2 you’ll need strips of:
• 2” wide light pink cotton
• 3.5” wide light pink cotton
• 2” wide gray cotton
• 3.5” wide gray cotton
• 5” wide gray cotton
• 2” wide cream/tan cotton
• 2” wide white cotton
• 2” wide black cotton
• 2” wide dark blue cotton
• NOT PICTURED: 5” wide dark blue cotton (the picture got so crowded XD;; I forgot to include it)
• NOTE PICTURED: And 1 little 2” x 2” square of hot pink 😀
We’ve still got a lot of the same colors as before, though we’re seeing the end of some of them, including pink, white, and tan, so go ahead and use up your last little bits for this section.
You can cut the squares you need as you go to there’s no mixing things up, or you can cut all the squares ahead of time. This section is the most complicated so far, so I’ve broken it up into 7 parts.
You’ll need:
• Gray: 3.5” x 3.5” (7), 6.5” x 5” (3), 2” x 2” (7), 5” x 2” (1), 3.5” x 2” (4), 12.5” x 2” (1), 8” x 2” (1)
• Black: 3.5” x 2” (4), 2” x 2” (14), 5” x 2” (1), 6.5” x 2” (3), 11” x 2” (1), 20” x 2” (1), 8” x 2” (2)
• Hot pink/magenta: 2” x 2” (1)
• White: 2” x 2” (2)
• Light pink: 2” x 2” (4), 5” x 3.5” (1), 3.5” x 3.5” (2), 8” x 2” (1)
• Tan: 5” x 2” (1), 3.5” x 2” (1)
• Dark blue: 3.5” x 2” (2), 2” x 2” (3), 5” x 2” (1), 8” x 2” (1), 20” x 5” (1)
Again, we’re sewing the squares together in numerical order to create groups, then sew the groups together in alphabetical order. Remember that, like most quilt patterns, we’re using a 1/4” seam allowance. You can press the seam allowances however you like, but I prefer to press them open.

And your finished section should look like this! The finished block should measure 29″ wide by 20″ tall.
Give yourself a really nice pat on the back, because there was a lot to that one! Now get ready, because next week we tackle the very last section! The rainbow trail! >w<
Come join me next week for section C2 – the colorful rainbow trail ^0^ It’s going to be tons of fun!

Haven’t started this week’s yet but can’t wait to. I wish everyone’s instructions were as easy to follow as yours. Your measurements are so easy, because they are whole or half inches! And then the way you label each part and make a diagram…love it!
I’m done with the head! I can’t believe it! I love it! http://diaryofacraftyheart.blogspot.com/2013/11/week-9-section-8.html
Oh my gosh! I looks fabulous! I can’t wait to see how all the pieces come together >w< It's going to be amazing!!
Thank you so much! I was so afraid the diagrams were going to be too complicated xD I’m really glad to hear that it’s easy to read 😀
Friday is here…
I’ve had to take a little break from posting every Friday while I catch up on some other work :< I should still be able to post every month or so, but probably not every week until around next year x_x
