Wow! Hard to believe 3 months have gone by already! I feel like I was a lot more productive this month ^-^ I got started on posting some of the knitting patterns I’ve been doing, I have a decent-looking group of 15 free patterns that I’ve cooked up, and my fabric stashes are actually looking significantly smaller! I still have trouble getting the lid on my box of cottons :3 but my heavyweight fabrics actually have some room in the top now 😀 And beyond that, I’ve used up most of the large fabric pieces, so over the next few months I’ll have to start making smaller, daintier projects xD or start getting into some patchwork. Before I know it I’ll completely use up that box of fabric and I’ll get to move onto the next box, I will be vigilant! Just keep sewing, just keep sewing, just keep sewing x3!

But since it’s the first of the month, that means it’s time for the next leg of my Monthly Crafting Challenge!
The freebie for the month of April is a fat little uramaki California roll!

The assembly is super simple, and the details really make it look awesome. For the un-sushi-initiated, a California roll is a very American style of sushi, as it doesn’t typically have raw fish. Instead, it’s filled with imitation crab, avocado, cucumber, and sometimes with a bit of fish roe. This one is made inside out, uramaki style, so the seaweed makes a spiral on the inside of the roll. I’d also like to say that he’s a futomaki (thick roll), because he’s so fat (x3!), but those are usually made with nori on the outside.
