Store Update – Plushies!

Whew! It’s been a while since I’ve had a proper store update, but that’s what I’ve been working on this past month! If you want to see what’s in store, just scroll down to the photos below. But if you want to hear more about the details then read on ^w^

The story behind this particular slew of items goes way back to my first book, Sew Kawaii! The book is filled with a good deal of plush patterns, so writing the book required loading up on a lot of plush fabrics like minky and faux fur. Needless to say, I had a lot of leftovers. I didn’t think much of it in 2011, but slowly the years went by and I kept getting plush commissions or I’d make things for friends. The problem was, no project ever called for the fabric I already had! I had to keep buying new minky just to get the specific colors I needed. So my collection kept growing xD Now three years later I have a whole bookcase filled with a rainbow of minky fabrics and I’m finally doing something about it!

I’ve found the best way to work through a fabric collection like this is to go by color, so this first store update is nothing but lime green plushies 😀

First up, I did a little collaboration with a very good artist friend of mine named Bianca Roman-Stumpff. She does these utterly adorable Puff Monster paintings. Each one is filled with so much character and are completely one-of-a-kind. For her recent birthday, I made one of her favorite Puff Monsters into a plush. She was so grateful for it 😀 but she did have one request: make more! So I did! If it turns out her fans like them I’ll probably do more colors ^-^ but for now, here’s the green gang!

After that are my original creations, which include a little assortment of octopi that have different colored bottom accents, and some chubby narwhals with spiral horns. There’s also a little huggable Cthulhu and one of what I hope will be a larger collection, one of my punk bunnies! I’ve made hats of these little guys before and now they’re alive in plush form, complete with frayed plaid details on the ears.

I hope you’ll give them a look if you’re a fellow plush lover! As for what’s next? I still have a bit of green left, but this time olive green. Then shortly after that will be orange! So stay tuned if you’re waiting for your favorite color to come up 😀 I’ll be sure to announce it here!

From now until December 18th, you can get 10% off everything you buy in the store 😀 The 18th deadline is about when you can still expect Christmas delivery if you are in the United States, so hopefully with this coupon some of your Christmas shopping will be taken care of! If you’re not sure how to use coupon codes on Etsy, they have a handy and simple how-to here.

First up I’ve redone all of my fruit kitty designs >w< I admit they're a little silly, but I just think they're so colorful and pretty.

Next up I used up a bunch of my scraps of different fleece to whip up these little panda and penguin hats 😀 I just love designs that use multiple colors like this, so I used up every scrap I had to make a plethora of pandas and penguins in a whole rainbow!

After that I have my group of punk animal hats >w< These are the ones that I just love to decorate with loads of hardware and plaid. They include some punk bunnies both in extra-long ear version and a medium-length ear, a punk kitty (complete with piercings), and a few odd-man-out hats, like the bat hats in both black and purple, and a new cyberpunk bunny design x3

I’ve also restocked some steampunk-themed hats, including small earflap hats, extra-long bunny ear hats, and a new steampunk circus bunny hat!

Zombiekitty8Zombunny16Zombunny11InsanityKitty2
There are also new zombie animal hats! Including an earflap kitty hat, zombunny hats in medium and extra-long ear length, and a new concoction, the insanity kitty hat XD Which came about from some scraps of fleece I had that looked incredibly schizophrenic. I thought adding a creepy face like the one seen on my reversible backpack I posted earlier would bring it all together. And it looks downright chilling to me! >w<

And lastly there are some new hoodies in stock! With the last scraps of colorful fleece I had I was able to whip up some penguins 😀 So there aren’t many sizes available, but I think you’ll really like how they turned out!

I hope you all enjoy the new items and maybe take advantage of the coupon! It might be some time before I have another update, but I definitely have things cooking in the background :B I think you’ll really be blown away by some of the items I’ll be finishing next year!

Finally! Previous Sushi Plush Patterns for Sale!

Ohmahglob guys! I’m so sorry it took me so long to finally get these ready, but as requested by many many of you, the exclusive sushi plush patterns from back months are finally on sale!

That’s right! For those of you who found out about my blog recently and are wondering how you can win the past sushi plushies, now you can purchase them from my Etsy!

The truth is, I was planning on listing the whole collection of sushi plushies once this first year of monthly crafting challenge was over >w< It just seemed like a good way to finish off the year. But very surprisingly, I got a huge demand for people that wanted to catch up with previous months right now, so I got to work on getting them Etsy-ready. So I want to apologize for anyone that had to wait longer than they’d like x_x I wanted to make sure the patterns I posted were worth your money, so I went back and edited them carefully, formatted them all pretty, and even did some extra testing to make sure there were no issues. The .pdf patterns even include a little section on working with printable patterns and appliqué so you’re helped every step of the way. Hopefully you’ll find the patterns you spend your hard-earned money on will be better than ever!

So please stop by my Etsy and have a look at which ones you’d like to add to your collection! They’re only $2 each, and $10 for the whole set if you want to catch up quickly. Just like with my other free patterns and book projects, you can send the finished photos of the projects to me and I’ll send you more free patterns as per my Monthly Crafting Challenge.

And don’t worry about always waiting this long ^w^ From here on out, whenever a new monthly pattern is released, the previous month will go right up on Etsy so you’ll never miss your chance! ♥

Etsy Store Update!

At the moment I’m preparing to attend an anime convention called Metrocon in July, for the next few weeks I’ll be working on making some products to sell there. Up until then I’ll have those new products on my Etsy store in case anyone in the net-o-sphere is interested :3

PunkBunnyTeal
First is a teal version of my Punk Bunny Hat, which got everyone’s attention on DeviantArt last year by being a daily Deviation XD of course everyone wanted one and I was in barely any position to make them as I was working on books at the time. I finally got around to making some more, albeit in a different color scheme, that way I could use up some scrap plaid fabric I had 😀

Zombunny9
Next is just a little Zombie Bunny (Zombunny) hat that I made with some extra olive green fleece I had :B It’s a very simple design without all the blood and guts of other zombies, but it’s one of my favorites nonetheless >w<

Fox2
Next is a very cute Fox Hoodie that I whipped up from scraps of orange and white fleece. Unfortunately I didn’t have much fabric so I could only make the one. It features black hand mitts, an adorable fox face, and attached ears.

Backpack9Backpack8Backpack5
And up last is a bag that’s based off of one of the projects from Sewing Stylish Handbags. It’s arguably one of the most unusual projects from the book xB But in the book you can find a pattern for a reversible creature bag just like this. I modified the pattern to make one side of the bag into a Zombie Kitty and the reverse side into a Killer Rabbit (a la Monty Python and the Holy Grail). The bright red eyes and drooling mouths are particularly weird and creepy, so I suggest this bag is definitely not for the faint of heart or those with grown-up tastes XD The middle reversible zipper is both the opening for the bag and the mouth of your creature, and the straps clip on with hook rings so you can remove the them when you turn the bag right side out to reveal your new character.

That’s all I have to show off now! I’ll be getting back to work and hopefully have another update for you soon! 😀

Sew Baby! My Latest Book is Released!

Cuddly and cute bibs, blankets, booties, and more

Cuddly and cute bibs, blankets, booties, and more

Hello everyone! I’m so excited! My latest book, Sew Baby came out this weekend! It’s one of the books I worked so ardently on last year, and I’m super proud to finally have it out in stores for you all to buy!

If you are familiar with my work, you know that I love making cute and adorable accessories so working on a book for babies was a natural progression. However, I still put in lots of blood, sweat, and tears into this book, so I hope you all enjoy what you see! I worked on creating loads of home décor projects, accessories, toys, and practicalities, all while imbuing my style of simple kawaii cuteness into them.

I found that as I worked on these projects, I had a goal where I wanted to highlight every loveable and gentle creature I could imagine, from kitty cats to red pandas, elephants to monkeys, and puppies to dragons. I think kind and gentle animals not only reflect the sweetness of babies, but the characters make these projects perfect for unisex gifts. A boy looks just as adorable in a panda hat as a girl, so you literally have a whole menagerie of projects to choose from 😀

Beyond that, seeing sweet little baby faces with baby animals would warm anyone’s heart. It makes me think of babies and kitties playing together, or of that quintessential boy and his dog vibe. Together, I see that animal as both a lifelong friend and a protector, and I think that image is what my muse was as I created for this book. I hope it inspires you as much as I was inspired, and you take a look if you have a special baby in your life that needs a perfect gift or would you would just like to surround with smiling faces! ^-^
