The first entry to take the lead on my pattern poll was the Stardew Valley chickens! Stardew Valley is a cozy farming and country living RPG where you can raise chickens like the ones here! They come in many colors with subtle variations with each one.
This version has a simple rounded body with a tiny head, little wings, and small beak. You can give them tail feathers and feet for extra character or leave them off for a faster project.
These were designed to try and go as simply as possible, so they’re rated a 3/10 in difficulty for all the little pieces.
But if you’re a longtime fan of my work you might know that I already have a chicken plush pattern. It’s a little more complex design than this free version, but it would still work really well for making a Stardew Valley Chicken – so I made a pattern hack!
The hack goes over how to swap out the eyes, beak, comb, tail feathers, and wings from the original pattern with the new Stardew Valley pieces. Aside from those small details, the construction is still very much the same. So if you want to make this more complex chicken, you’ll need the Chicken & Rooster Plush Pattern. As always, the pattern comes with applique templates to make the eyes, whether for the basic eyes or a void chicken. These will work if you’re sewing the details by regular machine or by hand. would the pet bird (not farm animal, the one with the pigeon) work with the hack or no?
It looks like it kind of works! The eyes from the embroidery line up about the same. The wings would need to be attached by hand instead of sewn into the body like the Chicken pattern. Also the flat tail feather might look a little strange since the Pet Bird has a narrower body. But the curled tail feather should look the same 😊 I hope that helps!
