I’ve got a new pattern that I’ve been working on 🙂
I’ve wanted so badly to make another backpack pattern to add to my others. And this is an idea I’ve had percolating for some time — a spider on your back!
This pattern shows you how to make a spider plush in 4 sizes, a large backpack, small backpack, large plush, and small plush. The small backpack is a more typical size that fits a few essentials like your phone, wallet, and keys. Meanwhile the large backpack is an epic statement piece that can fit a 7″ x 10″ tablet!
The smaller plush sizes are there in case you’re not interested in a backpack, but also to help accommodate those with smaller embroidery hoops. Embroidery isn’t required for these eight-legged cuties, but there are options to dress up the spiders with skull motifs, a black widow hourglass, or markings to make a peacock spider! If you want to skip the embroidery, you can add a fun pop of color by making the body and legs striped instead.
It’s a more advanced project because you have the challenge of plush making combined with bag-making techniques. The pattern will go over how to do the zipper installation and making adjustable straps. But if you’re not quite ready, then you can try out the plush first.
As usual, the pattern comes with applique templates for the different faces. But if you have an embroidery machine, you can buy the embroidery files separately. There are 4 eye styles that have multiple eyes for that cool spider look. All the pieces are either 4×4 hoop friendly or have separate options for working with 4×4 hoops.
