I was so excited to see a Cheshire Cat as one of the high ranking ideas on my pattern poll! When I made my Cat Bus pattern many years ago I did a version in (Tim Burton) Cheshire Cat colors because I couldn’t help but notice that they shared the same mischievous grin. So I’m really happy that this guy is going to get the full spotlight this time!
This version of the plush is not an exact replica of the Disney version, but rather has inspiration from lots of places. Of course he’s got his iconic stripes which I love, but he also has a big wide smile, expressive eyes, tall pointy ears, and little cheek fluff. He’s also got stubby arms and legs, and a big round body so he can lie flat on his belly. Giving him this pose allowed him to peer down on me when i set him on a shelf or other surface 😂
The body and tail are made up of stripes, so you’ll have lots of stripes to keep track of and curved sewing to deal with. Also the head, arms, legs, and tail are all attached by hand, so that might take some extra time. With all that in mind, I rated it a 4/10 in difficulty.
As always, the pattern comes with applique templates to make the face and other details. These will work if you’re sewing the details by regular machine or by hand. If you have an embroidery machine, you’ll find the embroidery files available for download here or with the buttons below. I hope you all like it!

Thank you, Choly for another great and so very cute pattern!
Thank you so much, I love the Cheshire Cat and look forward to making him.
Hi
the body stripes do not fit together like this. What am I doing wrong? Strip F3 is much longer than the edge of F2.
Best Regards Fine
Hello,
I’m so sorry the pieces are giving you trouble! You’ll need to bend the longer F3 strip around the curve of F2. But most importantly you’ll need to check that the correct edges are matching up. They’re marked on the paper pattern with points 4 and 5. The other edges are definitely too different to match up 😅
So the longest curved edge of F2 will join to the shortest curved edge of F3.
I hope that might help!
Can you share the name of the tool/utility/plugin you use to paginate your patterns? Or do you just do it by hand? (The A1/A2 stuff and the light gray page outline)
I’m making a large pattern while I can manually do it with artboards in Illustrator, it is both tedious and too easy to mess up the alignment markings.
Thanks
I personally paginate the patterns by hand 😊
But something like this might help with what you need:

So adorable! Can you tell me which colours you used for the purple and pink ones? Thank you so much for this pattern!
